My prowess as a photographer during last night's lunar eclipse was not quite equal to capturing the main event. However a somewhat lesser human achievement is here recorded.

Observed and admired by Boots out of his (sic) bathroom window, spring blossoms have come early to Ely this year.

For the technically minded, he and his half brother Harry have a much admired gangplank out of this window into an adjoining tree.

I never thought I'd find myself defending David Wynne's Madonna in the the Ely Cathedral Lady Chapel but the comments resulting from Fr Dwight Longenecker's blog posting on 27 January (Ely Ely Lama Sabacthani) on http://gkupsidedown.blogspot.com do at least warrant circulation of Richard Clover's remarkable photograph of the Lady. Beauty was ever in the eye of the beholder! And, for the record, Fr Dwight, I think if you check with your episcopal brother-in-law, the nuances of the commissioning of this admittedly controversial statue are a tad more complex than you make out.
