Cathedral Cats

Most unwisely in a piece she wrote about problems she was encountering with her computer furniture, Mac McLernon (of Mulier Fortis) mentioned Sylvester. Like an idiot I asked for a mug shot. So here is Sylvester (times three). To return the compliment, Mac, here are Harry and Boots (in that photographic order) whose main claim to fame, other than that they are spoiled something rotten by me, is that two years ago they featured in Chapter 8 of Richard Surman's Cathedral Cats (Collins, 2005).

And very handsome felines they are too!

Heheheh... be careful what you ask for, you might just get it! I'm always happy to put up pictures of cats. I must dig out Eliot's poem while I think of it...

Reminds me of a piece of wisdom passed on to me many moons ago. These days it would be politically incorrect on a number of counts. But here it is all the same. When visiting an Arab at home, a man should be cautious about complimenting him on the beauty of his wife lest the conventions of hospitality oblige him to make a gift of her. I learned the underlying truth of this when visiting the offices of the Moscow Children's Music Theatre in grim dark days when Mr Breshnev presided over Mother Russia and her empire. I was shown into a spacious meeting room, the walls of which were covered with the most beautiful posters. I oohed and aahed appreciatively only to spend the next ten minutes trying to stop my hosts from taking taking them all off the walls and giving them to me. In the end we settled on just two which I still have. And very beautiful they remain!
